it is steady makes bad teams good makes great teams good i guess you can call him a good coach Tulsa 1991-92 17-13 1992-93 15-14 1993-94 23-8 (NCAA 16) 1994-95 24-8 (NCAA 16) Total 79-43 (64.8%) Georgia
1995-96 21-10 (NCAA 16) 1996-97 24-9 (NCAA 64) Total 45-19 (70.3%) Kentucky
1997-98 35-4 (NCAA Champ) 1998-99 28-9 (NCAA 8) 1999-00 23-10 (NCAA 32) 2000-01 24-10 (NCAA 16) 2001-02 22-10 (NCAA 16) Total 132-43 (75.4%)
UK deserves better then 10 losses a year and no elite 8 games the last 3 years ,4 after this year and with the players coming it will be at least 5 years
like ive said on other boards UL will win a national championship before UK does if orlando stays at uk

Well thats subjective thinking I guess. Gary Williams had 15+ seasons of nothing higher than a Sweet Sixteen berth until 2001, so based on just that information alone doesnt mean Tubby never will again. If we were losing in the first round every year, there might be cause for concern. Theres no doubt UL will win a Championship some day. They have a heck of a Coach who could have taken Providence to a National Championship had he stayed there long enough. But you have to think of it this way. There is no one to take Tubby's place if he left that would win a championship before him (because they havent You are comparing Pitino to Tubby and thats a no-no. Pitino will always be a far superior coach because he is to EVERYONE in the business. You must compare Tubby to other coaches that you want to see be the coach at UK and then suddenly Tubby doesnt look so bad. THink about it.

TG, you wrote, "There is no one to take Tubby's place if he left that would win a championship before him (because they havent". Disagree, some coach wins the national championship every year.

i think Mr. Pitino is the better coach ive been a UK fan since 1965 when i was 6 years old orlando is a good coach but he is not the coach for UK and i stand by my statement UL will win a nat. champ before UK wins it again if orlando stays at UK ill copy and paste this and post it again when that happens for the record I AM NOT A UL fan

Your options: (1) begin rooting for U of L, (2) wait hopelessly in vain for Pitino to return to UK, (3) quit wasting our time comparing Pitino and Tubby.

And I will say this again PITINO AND LOUISVILLE WILL NOT I REPEAT NOT WIN A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE Tubby AND KENTUCKY DO AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

option 4 root for UK and hope orlando doesnt totally destroy the wildcat program Great! Here's to hoping you'll go with a bit of option 3 (quit wasting our time with pointless comparisons), as well.

Please. You wouldnt have mentioned it if Denny Crum was still coach and we lost to UL this year.
And UKFAN what I said is EXACTLY true. We should look at coaches that Kentucky may go after. For one, almost 98% of coaches that win a championship will never coach Kentucky or another school because A) they retire at their school, B) they go onto the NBA, C) they are a one year wonder. UK isnt going to go get Harrick, Calhoun, K, Izzo, Williams, etc. Either we wouldnt want them (Harrick) or they are at their coaching pinnacles at their respective schools. Compare Tubby to guys that we would probably see in the search (Brey, Self, Snyder, Floyd, Riley, Pelphrey, Donovan). Right now, Tubby is superbly ahead or equal to them all.

While not trying to take sides here
Do you think UK will land a great coach with all the microscopic breakdowns and discern of the program by the seemingly non-silent majority? Rock star status without the perks. Hardly ever does any GOOD. Critiqued by the masses. Grass is greener. Can always do better. Divorce is immenent. I. I. I. Me. Me. Me. It's my right as a Kentuckian to demand greatness and I'd better get it......or else.
If you were a young and impressionable athlete, would you honestly WANT to come to UK? How about an up and coming coach? Would you have second thoughts?
