I'm assuming Larry Brown will be stepping down soon as coach of the Pistons citing health reasons and will presumably become part of the Cavaliers organization.
I saw his interview where he said it was pretty likely and he told Joe Dumars a few months ago that he didnt mind if he went ahead and started a coaching search.
Tom Izzo was immediately speculated to be the next successor to Brown, but that was quickly refuted by Izzo as he didn't want the job or the cloud around it to hurt his recruiting.
To me, Tubby would be their most logical choice. The Pistons play virtually the same type of basketball as Kentucky and Dumars has said comments about Tubby before in that he was a thought about candidate during their last search. I imagine the Pistons might try Flip Saunders, but if they head the NCAA rank, I imagine Tubby will be the top of their list.
Of all the situations Tubby would leave Kentucky for the NBA, wouldn't this one probably be the most surpreme?

Wow, now that I think about it, I think you are on to something there. Sounds like a good fit for Tubby.
I am just worried about who Barny would come up with. I think he will fail in his hiring process and settle for a cheap bargain brand like he did with the football program.
Sorry to say, but this would be bad for UK. IMO

I agree the Pistons play "Tubby ball," and they don't need one superstar to win. There's balance. But, just like you say Izzo has refuted everything by saying he's not leaving, Tubby has pretty much done the same every off-season. A guy as old as Tubby probably doesn't feel like moving around much anymore, he's talked about all the manys times he's already moved his family around. He's loved in Kentucky, and he's got some great things going in this state with charities and such, I just don't see him going; therefore, I don't see the Pistons really going after him.
The Pistons may got after Flip Saunders or Nate McMillan. They'd have a better shot getting one of them IMO.

And, don't forget Tayshaun plays with the Pistons. At the end of the day, I don't see anything happening with "Tubby to the Pistons" talk.
Tubby has pretty much always been a man of the South, and I think he's gonna stay the rest of his life down here, and coach here until he's ready to retire.

Moving to the pistons would be a great move for Tubby.

TB, there is NO WAY that Barny will be allowed to bring a second rate coach to Kentuckly to replace Tubby if and when that happens. Other sports are one thing but the Basketball decision will get plenty of oversight and money will not get in the way for whoever we want.

I'd almost encourage the move just to see the type of success we would have without him.
Hindsight.

It could get very interesting indeed. Not sure when Larry Brown is going to make his decision. May be several weeks from now.

It would be huge for UK if Tubby would leave for the Pistons. Then we could finally get a new coach and end all this Tubby debate. But what would become of the "Hot Tub" board?

Ha Well, Tubby has never said he's not EVER leaving Kentucky. He has said he'd be interested in the NBA. He is still very young...remember Brown is much older and has moved around everywhere. I don't think Tubby particularly enjoys recruiting and it shows at times. I don't think he'll leave, but I'm sure he'll be on the short list. I think Dumars will probably try gold instead of silver and get someone that knows the NBA game and can motivate.

I think its time to turn the program over to someone drooling hungry.
