That's a funny one 7, but even Barny would not bring Slick Rick back. I just would enjoy the amusement of Barny leading the way of looking for a new basketball coach. It would be a disaster for UK.

Barnhart likely would swing for the fences like he did with parcells. I could see him trying to hire Pat Riley.

Bobby Gonzalez is a Pitino protege. We scored well in landing another protege in Tubby Smith, but I don't think Gonzalez is at the level of UK right now.

In several year, if Rigot moves on and has some success elsewhere as a head coach, I wouldn't be surprised to see UK stay within the family and replace Tubby with him.
I just think that if UMass chose over Gonzalez with Pitino pitching his case, Kentucky may not go after him that hard.

DETROIT -- Larry Brown's agent and Pistons president of basketball operations Joe Dumars spoke Tuesday about the coach's future with the team, but did not reach a resolution. Advertisement "Joe Glass and I have started talking about Larry's situation and we are continuing to discuss the matter," Dumars said in a statement released by the team. "As of right now there is nothing new to report." Glass told The Associated Press he did not have another conversation scheduled with Dumars. "There's no timeframe on when we're going to talk again," Glass said in a telephone interview from his office in New York. "We just have to monitor Larry's situation, and go from there. People are reading too much into me and Joe talking, and trying to speculate on the implications." Brown checked into the Mayo Clinic last week to address a medical problem that developed from complications following hip surgery in November and didn't go away after a second procedure in March. He arrived at his vacation home in New York on Friday. The Hall of Fame coach has said that if doctors deem him healthy enough, he wants to return next season with the Pistons -- and he insists he will not coach another NBA team. Dumars has said Brown would be welcomed back. After the San Antonio Spurs dethroned the Detroit Pistons in Game 7 of the NBA Finals last month, Brown said he was at peace. "I'm way ahead of the curve -- no matter what happens," Brown said as he walked to a locker room perhaps for the last time as a coach. "This game has given me so much that I'm one of the luckiest guys in the world." The win over the Spurs in Game 6 was Brown's 100th in the postseason, moving him past Red Auerbach for third place on the all-time list. Last year, Brown became the first coach to win championships in the NBA and in college when Detroit upset the Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals. Brown coached Kansas to the NCAA title in 1988. www.sportsline.com/nba/story/8622529

The word I hear is UK would look to hire Mike Brey if Tubby left.

Mike Brey can't even get NOtre Dame into the NCAA tourney on a consistent basis. Why would we go after a Blue Devil like this?

I think we should get Thad Matta. Imagine the type of players he'd bring in here, and he knows how to coach them. Being a Duke loss away from the final four in 2004 and being the only team to beat Illinois in the reg. season this past year. Thad is the guy anybody would want right now IMO, and I think he'd listen.
