ESPN had an article talking about the NIKE camp going on in Indianapolis and was talking about the 10 most impressive players there and the five happiest coaches then they mentioned the Five coaches feeling some stress. 1st listed was Bob Huggins then Bill Self next was Robert McCollum from South Floriday then Tubby was mentioned next. It said he was "still tense with the media, even in the lazy days of summer: Tubby lit up a reporter one afternoon at courtside. Dealing with Randolph Morris can leave a coach cranky." :-/the last coach mentioned was Dennis Felton it talked about Albert Jackson's verbal then Kentucky's offer and now the guy is telling reporters that he is a big UNC fan. I believe the article was by Pat Forde.

I disagree bout the black thing. had he continued what pitino started, and continued the style of play, which he promised. I'd say Tubby would be loved by every cat fan!

Pitino still coaches and uses that style, you watching his other team now whah? BTW, seems over 80% appreciate Smith just fine, let your voices be heard as well! Do you want Tubby to stay in at Kentucky? Results (total votes = 197): YES 163 / 82.74% NO 34 / 17.26% kentucky.rivals.com/showmsg.asp?fid=1383&tid=55469140&sid=&style=2Bush would "kill" for an approval rating like that Keep ;D

why should he feel stress? 200,000 a month and innumerable perks to stay on the road a few days recruiting on and off during the year and to win SEC's. Good facilities and fans who love his style of play. Couldn't get any better for the monetary package he receives.

I agree, if UK had been to a couple of final fours since 98, this would not be brought up, hence, it is a non issue.

I agree in the sense that his being "black" has nothing to do with his "stress" (unless it's personal stress, ie., Tubby wants to do his race proud) on the job.. Though his being the first "black" head coach at UK certainly has been mentioned a few times in print and on ESPN and CBS (Road to Glory documentary)
Keep ;D

Sorry for being totally honest. I'm really not out to hurt feelings. But I'm not going to lie either. I'm not one of those who think the race issue has gotten better. It is more hidden, there is a difference between an honest perception of someone and Political Correctness. Unfortunately it would take years of reading and study before I could get really in depth on this subject. And ya know I'm really not the best to get what I mean posted. So I hope I don't hurt feelings. That isn't my intentions!!!ED

Ed, you are definitely correct in citing that you have trouble expressing yourself when you use my whole generation as an example of what you don't agree with me about. Maybe Tubby does have trouble with his race when dealing with some like yourself. However, I see any pressure that Tubby may be feeling coming from his inability to get to the Final four with his last 7 teams.

It is a big NON-issue, when it comes to the Tubby debate, that gets waaay too much attention. He has never been rejected or accepted, by 99.9% of the fans, by the color of his skin, but by the results on the court.

Great pic.
I think this is leading to a very bad thread.
UKtrey, I think, IMO, you are way off base with the race issue.
I do not see it, and in the several years I have been on this board, I have not seen it.
