Maybe Buzz Peterson should coach the cats. I think it's best just to whine about our situation. We've won more games than any team in the country over the last three years. I want us to make the Final Four, but I'm not going to quit being a Kentucky fan or even think of ousting Tubby because we can't get there. We just have to live with it and know that it WILL happen again. We went 20 years between championships. We shouldnt have to wait that long, but if we do, we do as long as we keep winning every year.

Your post was WRONG on attendence. IT WAS close to 24,000. Not 22,000. 4UK, I think that you need to recheck that. Heard that directly from Oscar Combs and the other radio analyst before one of the last games.

What a ridiculous conclussion that defies logic!!

Look I'm not saying that Tubby needs to go at all. That would break my heart. Im just saying that we need to consider giving Tubby some coaching help on the offense thats all. None of you on this board can tell me that you are happy with an offense primarily based on put backs and fast breaks off of turnovers. If you tell me that the offense is just right and its fine as it is then I will gladly look you in the eye and tell you your crazy. there is no excuse as to why these boys cant hit the side of a barn with as much ball as they play. period. Ill go on even further and say that the reason the attendance records are so high is because of the tremdous loyalty the fans have. I know this first hand because I still go to the football games and they need some serious help I think alot of us are thinking the exact same thing that I am but are afraid to say it for fear of being called a benedict arnold.
Have you EVER heard any coach at UK act like the UL game is just any old game and it only means something to the fans. NEVER EVER have I heard that kind of talk except from Tubby.

Well ED, looks like you have been proven wrong on just about everything you have said. Hard to defend Tubby when the facts are there. Don't know how long we have been doing this website thing, 4 or 5 years or more, but I have been saying all along that Tubby will never win another championship at UK and unless he does some changes, he never will. With the high power offensive players we have and can only score a little over 50 points against Florida, there has to be something wrong. I bet old Aldoph Rupp, the man that invented uptempo, fast break basketbal, is rolling over in his grave now.

what have you been smoking?? give me those so called losses to lessor teams especially if we have results like we did in 96 and 97.. Sorry, but I agree with golf and everyone else, Tubby ball stinks.. I said this a LONG time ago, the excitement is GONE!!! I'm not asking for a run and gun team, but one that can actually win when it trully counts!!!

I would hate to ever start a thread by apologizing but I feel that I need to in this case. for the last 5-6 years I've been watching a UK basketball team that flat out could not shoot the ball. For the life of me I dont know why this has not been fixed by our coaching staff at all. Its not just this years team its been all of our teams since Pitino left. I really hate to say it I honestly do. I could spend alot of time pointing out guys like prince, bogans, fitch, padget, blevins, carrier, azubuike, etc. who were supposed to be hallmark shooters but the lot of them were streaky at best. Before you call me out, Prince and Bogans were not the same players they are now. remember that. This can go on no one elses shoulders but Tubby smith. For the life of me I cannot understand how a player who plays basketball everyday be it in practice or in a game. can shoot as bad as we do. Its not like these guys just gather around once a month. If I played ball 3 times a week I would be automatic. Im not shooting you a line of crap either. I could get out there and shoot better than 30% now and I havent played ball in 2 years. The reason why this is again on Tubby smith is because he either doesnt recruit the right player or work on it enough in drills. I understand that defense is Tubby's cornerstone but shooting is essential to winning as well just ask redick. With that being out of the way I would like to comment on this season in particular because this is the now. In the last two games I saw a UK team that was man handled on the boards. shut down offensively and lackadasical on defense at times. There is no excuse why LSU got 4th 5th and 6th looks on some posessions. I fully expected atleast that much fixed by today. Boy was I wrong. we saw a florida team that out hustled us and just flat out made us look like a joke. The florida defense just dared our POINT GUARD to shoot anywhere from outside the paint. and smothered our best shooter in sparks (and he's no larry bird himself) all 3 of our centers would rather paint each others toe nails than scrap for a rebound and the one guy on the team that shows any heart has to get fouled to hit a lay up or else he cant hit the side of a barn RIGHT UNDER THE BASKET. I love chuck hayes he deserves every accolade he gets but in order to go the nba he better learn to finish around the basket. My father really hit this home to me yesterday while I watched the LSU game. I havent watched a game with my father for 3-4 years until yesterday because he always bashed the cats and he's been a fan since birth just like me. I refused to agree with him about how much our teams have eroded since Pitino left. What he told me finally rang true when he looked at me with about 5 mins left in the second half shortly after we peeled the paint off the ceiling yelling and screaming "Get the Damn rebound guys". He turned to me and said "see these SOB's arent even fun to watch anymore" It hurt my feelings so much because he was speaking the truth. Let me put this all in perspective by saying Florida players CALLED US OUT and we still didnt show up to play. If you arent going to come out and leave everything on the floor in the conferance Tournament championship game than nothing will ever get you riled up. This Team has only showed emotion in two halves this season being the 1st half of hte UT game friday and the 2nd half of the UL game. notice how I said HALVES. I'm sorry If Im stepping on everyones toes here but Im tired of acting like average is good enough for me. I am going to die a UK fan and will gladly go down with the ship I just think that as fans we deserve better. Again guys I hope you understand where Im coming from. I love kentucky both the state and the team but I gotta call it like I see it or Im not a man of character and no one will value my opinion. It must be march madness because It's march and Im sure as hell mad VERY well put and I agree with EVERY word you said.. My father and I often watch games together and like yourself we are both sick and tired of Tubby ball.. Right now we have the athletes to produce, but Tubby's offense just holds them back.. If I were Crawford I wouldn't blame him for transferring after this season, or any of our Freshmen for that matter.. I sick of this Tubby ball crap!!!

No, you're absolutely right, but some of the posters that are saying thigns in this thread are those that have wanted him to be fired for the last four years.

It appears that the ones who want Tubby to stay are the ones who accuse the ones who want him to go, of not being UK fans. That is the ultimate deflection and cop-out.
Great post Couch fan and thanks for postin' your true feelings. It is great to see a post where someone posts exactly how they feel, and not just a company line post.
I really do feel we will be absolutely hard pressed to get past the Iowa/Cincy winner. Does this make me less of a fan? No, just callin' thems, as I sees them.
I hope I am wrong.

That shouldn't discount what many others, that do not have a cause against Tubby, to have our veiws discounted or mocked as not true Kentucky Fans!!

I could care less if someone thinks I'm not a true kentucky fan or not, because I have more important things to worry about. At this juncture I am not a BIG Tubby fan so therefore I guess I'm not a UK fan?? I'm sorry if I prefer tournament success over a super nice coach, but under Tubby we get NO WHERE come March and I just hope he's willing to see that he needs help on the offensive end and makes this adjustment because it needs to be made.. I'm tired of this Tubby debate the facts are simple and this year will be no exception, Tubby has something to prove come March and until he improves this thing he calls an offense we'll get no where..
