I posted this in another thread but wanted to make a topic out of it
I dont think there is any pressure for Smith to step down like Hall got. Tubby has better results than the latter day Halls teams and the AD of that time...Was it Cliff Hagan? I think so...anyway he was a pusher..PUSH...PUSH...PUSH...In my opinion the focus by the AD nowadays is COMPLIANCE...COMPLIANCE...COMPLIANCE. In my opinion Tubby will be here as long as he remains compliant and maintains what he is doing now. Any Final 4s or titles are just gravy. That isnt MY hopes and dreams, that I feel is our new reality. In short...We must pay the piper for our past sins, and the price is Elite 8s as opposed to final 4's.
Remember the episode about Aunt Bees pickles on Andy Griffith? Well get ready to eat tons of those Sum-bitches, coz honey...those suckers are going down your necks quart by quart.
Anyone glad we are going to be compliant or do you wish we would roll the dice and not worry about future wildcat fans. Just get ours now and screw everyone else."OR" does compliance and winning at a high level...Can that be one and the same regimes.
Opinions wanted on this.

This should turn into an interesting debate katman... Unfortunately for me, I have some errands to take care of this morning... but I will certainly check back in later and throw my two cents in as well... when do I not? GO CATS! ;D

Simply put, and I know you will understand what I am trying to convey, lets go fishing, is that times have changed. 2005 is very much different than it was with any of our previous coaches with NBA defections (or traitorous money hungry players and parents) and improved scouting etc. etc. etc.
Just like baseball and football pros are very much different. I don't think college ball will every be like it was five, ten or 15 years ago. Perhaps there are too many lawyers and agents, but, wish I was one.

This is a thread that's just asking for trouble.
Simply put, yes, I think Tubby should be here as long as he wants to be (and follows rules), and if you think I'm putting Tubby above the program, so be it!!!

We've gotten both under Tubby, and that's why there's only "like 2 people" that want him gone.

Make that post at DD and you will see that just on our site..not to mention THIS one, there are many who would disagree with you there. I personally am on the fence with Tubby, and I have promised to give respect to the man since he deserves that, but you are so off in saying that only 2 want him gone that I am about to bust my sides laughing at your post.

katman, did you notice the quotations marks around the "2 people want him gone." Don't take it so seriously.

katman, did you notice the quotations marks around the "2 people want him gone." Don't take it so seriously. You had me worried, I thought you were serious. My bad. ;D Wasn't sure, I have wondered since you had posted earlier about being a bigger Tubby fan than UK fan. This post belowDid you forget the quotation marks around that one

katman, show me where I said I loved Tubby more than the program. You can't prove it, because I never said, because it's not true.
All that I was saying is, if people think I esteem Tubby above the program, let them believe what they want to believe. I don't have to defend myself one way or the other. And, for the record, I want someone to show me where I cam out and said, "Tubby is bigger than the University of Kentucky."

Tubby, whether people believe it or not, has got UK in the HUNT pretty much year in and year out. Tubby's UK teams are consistantly in the Top 10, and has had UK a #1 seed 2 of the last 3 years which I see continueing. As long as UK doesnt take a nose dive like UNC did, and Tubby keeps UK in the HUNT. Tubby will be here until he is ready to move on or retire. Sure I'm ready for a Final 4, but UK has had a good chance for the Final 4 the last 3 years, all Tubby needs is a little LUCK!!! I just dont see the "Doom and Gloom" that some feel. ED

Fair enough, from the quote you made that I highlighted...it was needed for you to clarify (You just did). Thanks for doing so, I was worried about you. I think Tubby is a good coach, I just think UK is not a program with "Urgency" right now. It is bordering on complacency with a side order of its just a job and I will put my time in ....As opposed to OBSESSION to win the big one. Just my take , mind you. TWO mill a year should buy us a DEMON on the bench.
