katman, I think you're a great fan, too. Yeah, it is possible to keep your faith and still want a national title. Let's just remember Kentucky basketball isn't a religion, tho.
Furthermore, katman, when you get Larry Brown, you'll get violations right with it. If that's what you want so be it. He left UCLA, and what happened? violations. He left Kansas and what happened? violations. It seems so far that Tubby is conscious of the rules, and he's already shown that he can win a national title.
And, it's not Tubby's job to shut "cutters" up. What ever that might be? LOL Tubby job is to win games, and if he does that, great!!!
So, many coaches have only won one national title, and haven't won one since. I think of Gary Williams, Jim Boheim, Tubby Smith, Lute Olson, Rick Pitino, Nolan Richardson, Jim Harrick, Steve Fisher. That's not a bad group for Tubby to be in.

Tubbys job is to win and pursue national championships (Per Mitch Barnhard) we will compete at the highest level in all sports and maintain compliance. So if it isnt Tubbys job to do this, and subsequently shut up Cutters....Who's is it?

It's Tubby's job to win games, which is how you win championships. Your cutters ( ??) will never shut up, if we won 3 championships in a row. I'm sure Tubby could give a careless if "cutters" ( ) ever shut up. If he did care, he wouldn't be here... he'd be getting paid $2 million somewhere else. He's had the offers. I think you are being a bit defensive. Forget the word "Cutters" lets just say "Fans" the ones that moan and complain...They do what reasonable fans dont do but WOULD if it were part of their personality. The UK job isnt one for complacency...not saying we are complancent...but we definately have not got that sense of urgency and something needs to be done to get that air of excitement back and the style back that recruits want to play in. Can Tubby publicly go to the media and step up expectations and put more of that 2 million dollars to work for us? Can he put his head on the line and say what Pat Riley said one year with the Lakers? " I guarantee we will win a championship I know this is a different level but you see my point. Can Tubby get this fanbase so jacked up that people are lined up outside of Rupp on gameday begging for tickets. The time is now to push the expectations in this program and get that sense of urgency back. Not because its the coach's "Job" but because its his passion to return UK to the top of college basketball. Can Tubby do it? I hope so, because he isnt going anywhere.

I'm sure Tubby could do that if he wanted to, but his style seems to be fitting UK well. I don't see anything happening in recruiting that says there's no air of excitement. Nothing in attendance sales suggests this either. Too bad we've won more games than anyone else the last 3 years also. UK's problem in recruiting isn't Tubby. The problem, according to the recruits (what a novel idea listen to the recruits instead of what you want to hear) they want UK to recruit them more. Seems like they want UK. Nothing urgent there. UK ain't losing any steam with them, if anything Tubby is picking over them. Tubby is antsy to get back to the final four, and that's enough for me. It will happen soon.
Defensive? Yeah, I'm getting defensive. Just trying to understand what the whole beef is. We could be doing a lot worse, and there have been times in our history that we have.
And, you're right, Tubby ain't going nowhere, so your point with starting this thread was?

You think this one belongs in The Hot Tub? Does it? I think the fact we have a "Hot Tub" makes my point. And Kentubby, no I dont think Tubbys style "IS" fitting UK. I think his way of running a program is though, as he does things the right way. But this program has eaned 6 of its 7 Championships with teams that have been fast break and pressing teams and was born to be an offensive juggernaut. I want Tubby to push down the throttle, dont you? PS Kentubby, my point is this....Discussion...

You think this one belongs in The Hot Tub? I want Tubby to push down the throttle, dont you? I want to win. However, we do that as long as its within the realm of the rules, I'm fine. We've been winning, so I've been happy. Furthermore, I'm glad that Tubby has made UK into what he wants it to be. Afterall, he does have the keys to the program. Tubby, keep at it, boy!!! I don't think people care how you win a championship, as long as you win one. 80 years from now are people gonna be talking about how boring the Spurs and Pistons were, or will they be talking about they won championships?

Point is, schools are telling recruits that Tubby Smith has never recruited a player yet that has even been to a Final 4 aside from his son , much less won a title. Tubby is 53 and unless he is a late bloomer he better **** or get off the pot. Im like you, I hope he can prove all of us Yahoos wrong.

What a load of crap!! Bo Ryan hasn't led any players to a final four of his own. Rick Stansbury, Mark Gottfried, Mark Few, Mike Davis, Lorenzo Romar, Ben Howland, Thad Matta, etc. have never led their recruits to a final four, but they are perenially pulling in top 25 classes. What a load of crap!!! None of those guys are as old as Tubby, but they still haven't done much.
katman, too bad that negative recruiting didn't scare away Rondo, Morris, Crawford, and Bradley. They must not have talked to you about their recruitment.
katman, I don't think I want to debate this with you anymore. That's just an absurd point, and I need to go somewhere else before I say something that I'd eventually regret.

If Tubby has recruited a player that has played in a Final 4 aside from his son...Name him. Tubby is the only UK coach in history to not have done this. Rupp did it, Hall did it, Even Sutton has done it at a lesser school. Pitino did it. Tubby hasnt. Not saying he cant....just saying...GULP...He hasnt.

katman, I'll just bow out from here, because you fail to see that a good 300 coaches in the nation havent' coached one of their recruits in the tourney. It's not hurting them in recruiting. Are you blind or something. You don't even touch the point I made. Just beating around the bush, but forget about the other coaches, who's recruiting isn't being hurt by this. I'll bow out from here, because I'm starting to lose my cool. And, this is going nowhere with you.
