Now that I've had time to cool down, I find it quite flattering to Tubby. For those fans to want Tubby, it's showing that guy can coach. Go Tubby.... but stay at UK.

hopefully this will not be a issue, but it does, lets hope that some of our more vocal Tubby detractors won't cause Tubby to leave and go to duke...granted he has a army of supporters but a few detractors may be enough to go to a program where he would be more appreciated....i can promise you this, if coach k leaves Tubby will be contacted and if there is a program that might make Tubby think, it would be duke...(i won't sleep to good tonight!)

Forget about those detractors. All Tubby has to do is talk to me, and I'll make him want to stay here. Tubby could win here and dominate the nation here just like he could there, so he might as well stay here where he's had time to get comfortable.

Don't know what you mean kj by "their own pedigree", care to elaborate. The Duke student body may be viewed as elitist geeks (with some truth to that); but, the faculty and especially the suits (admin) are good ol' boy networked thru-and-thru. Tubby would fit in. He went to school just west of Duke in High Point, and I'll bet he can drink "sweet tea" with the best of them.

KENTUCY's the best, so why settle for less ? No way would Tubby even consider it !

Would wager Johnny Dawkins is next coach at Duke if K leaves. Tubby drinking sweet tea? Maybe. Don't think his down home, aw shucks persona would fit well with the Dukies. If a good ole boy network exists, they probably want someone familiar.

I know it was a Duke message board, but I could have sworn I was on a Cardinal board.
Some of the comments made by the Duke fans was somewhat flattering to Tubby, and the UK program. Tubby has a lot to do with the way our program is viewed around the country now.
We might be surprised at how many of the elite programs would love to have our head man.
Maybe even enough to up the pay a little.

Look at the byline-Tubby Smith is the greatest. With 2 2nd round losses, 2 sweet 16's, and 1 Elite Eight in the last 5 yearsin the NCAA's, I would say, yes, some have agendas.

You can bet K has had similar stretchs of NCAA finishes. Don t give up hope. Tubby is the man. ****Also, Tubby "needs" to win a title soon as well, I also love the fact there are some fans who think he cant do it, it makes it much more fun for me * ****

Katman, when do you think this will happen (Tubby winning a national title)? And if it doesn't happen within your time frame, will your attitude toward Tubby change? Tubby has recruited a championship team, but how long will it take for them to become champions? Or, will some of them leave before that happens? I think the next couple of years will be important in Tubby's legacy. I just don't have the confidence in him taking UK back to the final four and winning it all. Hope I am wrong.
Oh, by the way, I don't think Tubby is going anywhere. He has the "cat in the bag" at UK. He would be foolish to leave.

I guess the fun is to watch the games, and "see if we can win a new championship". Enjoy the ride while it's going on. Beyond that, why sweat it? Really, the only decision for me to make is to enjoy or complain. I choose enjoy, and let others complain.
