With the class Tubby has coming in he'd be crazy to leave right now. My heart would be in coaching these guys too. Tubby will be here for a while IMO (I hope).

I agree BC, no way Tubby leaves with this class on the table. If anything, I would be worried 2 years down the road if this class does all that its capable of, then it might become a possibility of him leaving, although I hope not !

5 or 10 more years, greatest in UK history? Quite a reach there for a man who hasn't equalled Pee in 7 years and is nowhere near Rupp......Can't wait to see the 90's revisited!!!!!! We can all dream. ;D

"Quite a reach there for a man who hasn't equalled Pee in 7 years..." - writes kj Tubby won the National Championship in his first year, has the best W/L record in the last 5 years and was a unanamous COY in 2003. - That equals more than Pee to use your cute little word!! However, I too am unhappy that we are performing so poorly in the NCAA Tourney especially the last 2 years and hope Tubby realizes that he has to be less conservative in the Big Dance because either you shoot your wad or you are OUT!!

Equal Pee? You might look at the record before showing you know not what of you speak. RP- 6 years NCAA eligible, 5 Elite Eights, 3 FF's, 1 championship, 1 runnerup. No way Tubby measures up to that. 7 years 1FF, 1 championship, 3 Elite Eights, 2 sweet 16's, 2 2nd round flameouts. No way equal or even close.

Well you got that one right. He left some high standards for the old Tubbmeister to strive for though. kj, just stay in the past and fail to enjoy the world of Kentucky Basketball be it under Pitino, Rupp, Tubby or whoever. My interest in the KENTUCKY PROGRAM isn't being ruined by my dislike for one person - what a waste for you!!

RUINED is maybe an overstatement. Less enjoyment may be a more accurate description. It is not a dislike for Tubby the person, Tubby the coach is who I find lacking.

We can all dream. ;D If and only If Tubby's teams can make a few final four appearances and another championship or two in the next ten years, then yes he would have to be considered one of UK's greatest coaches. That is a stretch however. Rupp won his four championships on about a 10 year average. He did however win 4 titles in a ten year span. It's not likely that will ever be accomplished again.

I'm down with that. Rupp has more national titles, but college basketball has become more competitive in Tubby's time. I knew that Duke was a smart university and it had intelligent fans. They must be intelligent--they realize a talented coach when they see one. Tubby is tied for the second most national titles by a coach in UK history, so if his reign has been bad, Pitino and Hall's must have been equally bad.

Find it humorous anybody here would project Tubby as the all time best coach at UK with what he has done up til now. Caught lightning in a bottle one year and after that has been basically a sweet 16 coach just like he has been all his career. Good coach yes, HOF'er looooonnnnggggg way to go. Mention with Rupp is laughable imo.
