Look at the byline-Tubby Smith is the greatest. With 2 2nd round losses, 2 sweet 16's, and 1 Elite Eight in the last 5 yearsin the NCAA's, I would say, yes, some have agendas. kj, i was glad to see in your post you agreed that some fans have agendas...oh yes one other thing you forgot to mention Tubby has won a ncaa championship, was unanimously voted coach of the year in 2003, has gone 59 and 9 the past two seasons in which no division 1 coach has more wins or less losses, we were rated number 1 in 2003 and number 2 in 2004 by the associated press, have gone an amazing 25-3 against sec opponents for the last 2 years, 4 sec titles and 5 sec tournament titles, made it to the ncaa tournament every year, 5 out 7 sweet 16 appearances, has won 20 plus games every year he has been here and has averaged 27 wins per season....be assured i will not stick out my tongue either and glad you noticed my by-line as i am proud tou use it..

C'mon KTB and CMD why does it bother you when someone disagrees with you. We all agree that Tubby is a good coach, but, as far as AGENDA'S go look at your every post...... Nothing should be unanimous lighten up.

CMD,..... No you didn't, Neither did I ... You think 'Tubby is the greatest' I don't .. Like I said before I KNOW he is a good coach but NOT the greatest and he continually proves that .
IF K goes to the Pros Its for the money not the prestige I believe he has been voted the NCAA coach of the year ..I may be wrong ...Of course there may be other reasons//

I don't get offended when people talk bad about Tubby as much as I used to. I'm tired of arguing about it. Tubby has had a lot of success, so much success that the fans of the nation's #1 or 2 program the last 15 years, want him to replace Coach K. I don't have to speak up in Tubby's defense, I'll let those accomplishments that cmd wrote speak for themselves. Just read the Duke board. They like Tubby more than some of UK fans do.
Here's another thing. All of UK's coaches have had either a .500 winning percentage or lower at least once in their career at Kentucky... even Adolph Rupp. Tubby hasn't(Joe may have not either now that I think about it). But you see, just depends on your agenda, and how you want to look at things. The glass is half full here.

Would wager Johnny Dawkins is next coach at Duke if K leaves. Tubby drinking sweet tea? Maybe. Don't think his down home, aw shucks persona would fit well with the Dukies. If a good ole boy network exists, they probably want someone familiar. There are three major candidates: Tommy Amaker, Johnny Dawkins, and Mike Brey. Mike Brey coached at Duke as an assistant. Dawkins played and currently coaches at Duke. But, this is where Amaker sets himself apart and this is why he should be the replacement: he played for and coached for Duke like Dawkins, but he's also got head coaching experience. He's been successful thus far at Michigan, winning the past NIT championship as he is in rebuilding mode there. Amaker should be the new coach when Coach K eventually does leave. Amaker is the most qualified--Quin Snyder has the same credentials, but he's also got a tainted rep right now. Duke is a high-profile position, and thus it should go to an experienced head coach, sorry Dawkins.

I'm not afraid to admit it. My agenda is that I like Tubby Smith. I don't guess that's aparent enough in my posts, otherwise, you wouldn't be asking me if I have an agenda. Oh yeah before I go: GO Tubby!! Tubby, by the way, is our coach.

kj, i was glad to see in your post you agreed that some fans have agendas...oh yes one other thing you forgot to mention Tubby has won a ncaa championship, was unanimously voted coach of the year in 2003, has gone 59 and 9 the past two seasons in which no division 1 coach has more wins or less losses, we were rated number 1 in 2003 and number 2 in 2004 by the associated press, have gone an amazing 25-3 against sec opponents for the last 2 years, 4 sec titles and 5 sec tournament titles, made it to the ncaa tournament every year, 5 out 7 sweet 16 appearances, has won 20 plus games every year he has been here and has averaged 27 wins per season....be assured i will not stick out my tongue either and glad you noticed my by-line as i am proud tou use it.. COY got to Elite Eight in 2003 with a team that was a heavy favorite to win it all that year. Bogans was injured but got his average against Marquette. We got our heads handed to us that game. Again in 2004 the #1 of all the seeds yet a 2nd round loss. A team with 17 players available yet with only 6 capable of playing according to Tubby's substitution patterns. 25-3 vs the SEC last 2 years, so what? The SEC hasn't done squat in the NCAA's for years. Does that great record against pretty poor competition reflect UK's strength? Don't think so. Numerous SEC titles, last time I looked we had more of those than the rest of the league combined. IMO kind of makes that accomplishment a given. Everybody wins 20 games at UK, Tubby has continued what every one else has done. Sweet 16's? Talk to me when Tubby has more than one FF in 13 years. Maybe some big time recruits will help this average. The little caricature with the tongue sticking out was a mistake on my part. Meant it to be this one since it seems more appropriate. Tubby

KTB Nuff' said about that I guess ...KJ, U and I know that Tubby will never leave UK unless he continues to flame out early in the Tourney ...Good points about winning 20 every year at UK ..If you can win 20 some other place you would think one could average 30 at UK. Did Miss St win the reg season championship?
Again I say Tubby is a real good coach. Maybe with this new Recruiting class we can win more than just one Tournament (SEC)

He said no thanks twice to the NBA "Smith on Friday said he'll be staying at Kentucky and that he has "no interest" in coaching the Philadelphia 76ers." espn.go.com/nba/news/2003/0530/1560962.htmlBilly King, the new president of the 76ers, was out of the office yesterday, and several NBA sources said he spent the day with Kentucky coach Tubby Smith. The sources said King was trying to convince him to take the Sixers' head coaching job a day after Smith referred to that job as a "headache." www.philly.com/mld/philly/sports/basketball/5972687.htm?1c"Apparently Smith was approached about the job recently, but he told the Hawks that he wasn't interested." www.prepstar.com/HoopScoop.html“I'm not worried about that,” son Saul Smith said. “I think his heart is here at UK, without a doubt. I don't see him leaving. www.enquirer.com/editions/2000/03/19/spt_tubby_headed_for.htmlHe would pass on any other College, IMO as his own son thinks, "His heart is here at UK" "What is built endures, and what is loved endures.. and UK basketball, UK basketball endures"
