Athlon Sports ran a little article in which they discussed the top three replacements for major schools should their current coach leave for any reason. For example, in the case of Louisville they had Jay Wright, Tom Crean and Larry Eustachy as the top candidates should Pitino leave. For Kentucky they had 1) Tom Izzo, 2) Rick Barnes, and 3) Mark Few. Athlon also said:
Being the boss at Kentucky is one of the most desirable - and difficult - jobs in the nation. It would take a lot to convince Izzo to leave East Lansing, but don't you think Barnes would love to get to a school where basketball was king?
Izzo plays an uglier style than Tubby. Barnes or Few would be acceptable, I suppose, if Tubby were to leave.

Well since this thread isn't about trashing Tubby I'll reply.
If Tubby were to leave UK, the only guy on my list at this point is Tom Izzo. I love the guy and I think he'd bring a championship to Kentucky.
That being said I hope Tubby takes us to the final four this year and gets a contract extension. ;D

Barnes or Few would be good and I like Kelvin Sampson of Oklahoma also!! I'm still trying to remain confident in Tubby, but maybe it's time to give up on Tubby ball? I personally would love to see Rick Barnes.. ;D

Barnes or Few would be good and I like Kelvin Sampson of Oklahoma also!! Never Kelvin Sampson!! I remember he actually cried after loosing to Heshimu Evans and Manhattan a few years back in the first round of the NCAA tourney - he was upset with having to play such a good team in the first round. No crybabies allowed at UK.

Izzo seems to have his Michigan St teams go to the FF4 every other year. He is the only one worthy at this time. ED

Izzo is the only one I like besides Rick Majerus and I just don't see that. Hopefully Tubby can prove himself this year once and for all.

I can't figure out why people are in love with Mark Few. He's in a no account conference in which he blows through each year only to be promptly bounced in the tourney. He's been at Gonzaga for 7 years and been to the sweet 16 twice. Whop de doo!

Most definitely do not want to see Rick Barnes leaving the Longhorns. I think how the basketball program does this year will determine if he stays for several more years.
With the baseball team already having won the National Championship and the football program on it's way to the National Championship, the basketball program now is under a lot of pressure to keep up. It the basketball program does not win a National Championship this year, I say let him go where he might want to go.
And one more thing, even though football is by far the king at most of the big time universities, and certainly true with the Texas Longhorns, that does not mean that they still do not have the large fan following that basketball universities do.
It was unbelievable the fan following Texas had for the baseball World Series.

Sorry, TB, but some top program is going to be coming after Rick Barnes. And I hope that it is our Cats Program.
