One thing for sure, keep that Hawaii team on the schedule. Trips to Hawaii are great.

People remember championships, the final four is the last step to that game. Of course people remember final fours, WHY WOULDN"T THEY, just like in baseball people remember the team that won the World Series, in football it is the Super Bowl, or college the BCS as in NC, what are they supposed to remember, who finished sixth or seventh, or fifth? I have no idea what you point was. Don't understand your point either. Second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth all ended with a loss, too. The national championship is the goal like you said, and you can't win that if you don't go to the Elite 8 then the Final Four.

Tom Izzo just got blown away by Hawaii 84-62 last night.. That wont fly. But, he just got to the FF. Sometimes I get the impression that people woldn't care if Tubby lost every game until he won the SECT, so we could get to the NCAAs and then the final four. If Tubby lost every game, but the SECT games en route to the final four, it seems like some people would love it... because all that matters is the final four. Sorry, now that I have read this slow about a dozen times, I think you agree with others. That being in the realization that a team that lost 14 games but won a NC, would be remembered far longer than a team that won 26 in a row, went 30-3, but went out of the tourney in the second or third round.

I agree katman2000 I pretty sure I dont won't a guy coaching UK if he can't even beat a Hawaii team when your team is Michigan St. Get real. Boeheim got stunned last tourney, does that instantly make him a poor coach? No. Every coach that has ever coached has had a team that got beat by a team that had no business beating them. It's part of the game.

It wasn't too many years ago the we lost our first exhibition game and then went on to win the second on a last second shot. The team rushed the court and everything......over an exhibition game.
I wouldn't put too much 'stock' into what happens THIS early in the season.

Anyone up for a little Travis Ford action? Lets give Ford a shot to bring the CATS to the title game. Nah but seriously I couldnt imagine anyone but Tubby. Hes done a great job and I stand by him!

Let's put John Beilein, the West Virginia Coach, on our hypothetical list!! Here's what Dick Vitale wrote in an article "When the topic is the big-time coaches in college basketball, familiar names and Hall of Famers often are mentioned: Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, Texas Tech's Robert Montgomery Knight, Temple's John Chaney, Arizona's Lute Olson, North Carolina's Roy Williams, Maryland's Gary Williams, UConn's Jim Calhoun, Syracuse's Jim Boeheim, Oklahoma State's Eddie Sutton ... and the list goes on and on. Let me share the name of a guy who doesn't get much publicity, but he can flat-out C-O-A-C-H! Most of America doesn't know who he is, but if you ask his peers they'll tell you his teams are always prepared and solid fundamentally. They can play in every phase of the game.
I'm talking about West Virginia's John Beilein (pronounced BEE-LINE).
If he had equal talent to most, he'd get the "W" every time.
Many college basketball insiders feel that Beilein is one of the masters on the sidelines.". BTW, In his list of big-time Coaches, Vitale didn't mention Tubby Smith unless he was included in the term "the list goes on and on".

....or unless he forgets who he is one day and gets lost on the way to Rupp. could we make it harder to find Rupp?? BTW, let's put John Beilein, the West Virginia Coach, on our hypothetical list!! Here's what Dick Vitale wrote in an article on Jan. 5, 2005 "When the topic is the big-time coaches in college basketball, familiar names and Hall of Famers often are mentioned: Duke's Mike Krzyzewski, Texas Tech's Robert Montgomery Knight, Temple's John Chaney, Arizona's Lute Olson, North Carolina's Roy Williams, Maryland's Gary Williams, UConn's Jim Calhoun, Syracuse's Jim Boeheim, Oklahoma State's Eddie Sutton ... and the list goes on and on. I'm talking about West Virginia's John Beilein (pronounced BEE-LINE).
If he had equal talent to most, he'd get the "W" every time. His Mountaineers have sent shock waves through college basketball so far this season, going 10-0 for the first time since 1959-60, when a guy named Jerry West was lighting it up in Morgantown.
Many college basketball insiders feel that Beilein is one of the masters on the sidelines. West Virginia entered this week as one of seven remaining unbeatens in college basketball". After watching a little WVU and UT I agree about Beilein. His halfcourt offense is pretty good. Lots of movement and good spacing. Think John is pretty old though.

Rick Pitino and Tom Izzo werent' included in the list either, and we know they are big time coaches just like Tubby. Vitale just wrote two articles a month ago where he put Tubby on a list like this, so it's not that much news. Those of us who know Tubby is a big time coach, don't need the reassuring by others all the time.
