I can't figure out why people are in love with Mark Few. He's in a no account conference in which he blows through each year only to be promptly bounced in the tourney. He's been at Gonzaga for 7 years and been to the sweet 16 twice. Whop de doo! I completely agree...maybe the first time ever with you Mark Few is the most overrated coach in college basketball. His "summer" teeth are about the only reason he would fit in at Kentucky.

Izzo would be my man. He's a class act. But the key word here is hypothetical. Tubby is our coach, and a pretty darn good one, IMHO.
When Kyle Macy took the Morehead job, I was hoping he would run off a few OVC championships and put himself in line to take the UK job. Hasn't happened.

Since this is hypothetical, not real, I would take Pitino. He is one of the best, if not the best teachers in the game, works exceptionally well with big players and is an excellent bench coach.

Barnes would be a good one at UK. But personally I would want a coach more like Pearl at UT, Prosser at Wake, Lutz at Charlotte, Wright at Nova, Weber at Ill as these guys FORCE their game and tempo on opponents. More O but still very good D coaches. And djb I'm with you on RP also.

paul hewlitt, thad matta, mark few, "He's done great things, with virtually nothing..." izzo, rick barnes. theres quite a few coaches out there, but I'm forgetting some I'm sure. Point is, we can do better than Tubby ball. but I will concede one thing, kentucky is a pressure cooker, and not every coach would succeed here...

There's got to be something said for loyalty, and Rick showed a sincere lack of loyalty. Never want to see him running the show in Lexington again.

Rick Barnes and Tom Izzo are the same age of Tubby, so they won't be here even if Tubby left next season IMO. I like Thad Matta, as he's got the total package, much like Tubby is a complete package.
Kelvin Sampson plays a slower, more methodical style than Tubby adn Izzo put together. Furthermore, Sampson is probably gonna be Arizona's next coach if he ever leaves OU. Zona seems to like him, and Olson could be leaving his post before Tubby leaves his.
And, our next coach could be some young guy right now or a guy just getting started, who works his way up with surprising NCAA finishes, just like Pitino and Tubby did before they came to Kentucky.
Tubby can stay another 20 years as far as I'm concerned tho. We won't find a better coach, because there isn't another one available that doesn't already have a job or who will leave his job for UK.
