All I know is what you write in your posts, one in which claims Tubby to be a good coach and other claiming he's great. I'm confused. I'm glad you've clarified it for us all now. "I'm confused." - posted kt.

katman, what does Tubby have to prove with the NCAA tourney? Look at where he ranks among the active coaches in turns of NCAA winning percentage. Where would you put Gary Williams, another great coach? He didn't even make the tourney last year. Is he all of a sudden a terrible coach.... how do you get worse with age?

KT, Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the comment about "how does he get worse with age." We get better I say. YEAH, just downright better.

success is determined in the post season. Tubby has had good at best results in the postseason, hence "good" coach.

I guess it depends on your terminology of "good." Somebody like Skip Prosser is a good coach according to the results. But, what does "good" mean, anyway.

I believe that in this day and age, with so many players leaving early it is impossible to put a great team together and keep it together for more than one season. Hence, it is unfortunate, but how a coach does in the tourney, to a certain extent anyway, does not carry as much weight as it used to.
As an example, UNC most likely will not make even an elite eight for several more years, but that will not diminish what there coach did this year, or make him any less of a coach.
Things are just so much different now than they were even 10 years ago.

You know I think Tubby is a great person but so was Bill Curry. I wonder how many excuses we are going to use for us not getting to the final 4. I keep hoping but I am getting old. I have been a cats fan every since Rupps Runts. I think what really scares me is that Louisville is going to catch us and I would not like that at all. But I still keep rooting for them and hoping.

You are certainly right on that one banjo. RP has another great recruiting class too. And, UL passed UK and never looked back in football. They have put one heck of a football team together. Why can't UK, it starts at the top, IMO.

Interesting that UofL has to "catch us." That word choice tells me who the better program is, has been, and always will be.

Tubby must do more in future NCAA tourneys to be considered great by UK standards. Yep, Tubby is a "Good" coach. But to be great he must deliver some Final Fours to UK. Tubby is 53 years old and hasnt ever recruited and coached a team to a Final 4. He has come "Very close" He has 1998 where he played a major role in one. But to be great "Fair or not" he must silence his critics.....you know, the ones that say what I just said. In short, Tubby must deliver the Sports Holy Grail back to Lexington and do so without our former coach's hands on it, or else Tubby will not surpass Joe Hall in banners (FF or more)

They HAVE NOT beaten a Powerhouse team like a Ohio State or Michigan, Oklahoma, ect. Now they are going into a equally bad conference in the Big East. Which is a basketball conference just like the ACC. Let them try to duplicate there record playing in a REAL Football conference like the SEC, Big 12, Pac 10. You see the point dont you?ED

U of L football is still far superior to the Cats' football program now no matter which conference each school plays in.
