2. Kentucky. Wildcats fans who wonder why their team hasn't reached the Final Four since 1998 need only examine recent NBA draft lists. UK hasn't produced a top 15 pick since 1997 and has had only one first-round pick (Tayshaun Prince) in the past five years. The Wildcats were shut out entirely in this year's draft, and they need players at every position. Nashville-area power forward Brandan Wright is the key. www.sportingnews.com/experts/mike-decourcy/20050705.html

We need talent at 2 possitions. Our gaurds are stacked and we have twelve 7 footers. I think most people would call that depth at the 5. Our 3 and 4 are slightly week this year, but Crawford can take up some slack at the 3, and there is a chance that we could get Rush. Our 4's are the biggest mystery, and while I don't think any of them will be first rounders (Keep in mind I don't really know enough about Simms to talk about him), I think Thomas, Perry, and Simms could all be good college players. Good enough to take us to a championship.
We may have had some trouble getting guys drafted in the past few years, but that will change in the immediate future whenever Rondo is drafted. I think that guy is full of it.

#4 ,NOT JUST RONDO , BUT CRAWFORD IF HE STAYS AT UK FOR 3-4 YEARS COULD BE A 1ST ROUND PICK AND IF SHAG IMPROVES HE WILL BE A 1ST ROUND PICK , I CAN SEE BRAD GOING IN THE MID TO LATE 2ND ROUND IF WRIGHT COMES HE WILL BE A LOTTO PICK

I'm more worried about our 4 spot than any other position, including center.
I'm hoping Thomas is ready to break loose and play like a monster. We need some toughness on the inside and he's the only player I see that can do this right now. I'd also like to see Woo get some time at the 4 spot. He has midrange skills so it isn't all that far fetched. I just worry about his quickness against the smaller players.

I thought about Sims but since I've never seen him play, I couldn't make an educated guess on his potential.

I AGREE I HAVE YET TO SEE ANY HIGHLITS OF SIMS PLAY , BUT Tubby SAYS HE REMINDS HIM OF TAYSHUAN WHICH IS PRETYY GOOD COMING FROM Tubby , SO I HAVE HIGH EXPECTATION FOR SIMS

I think our weakest position is the 3 spot. We have no legitimate small forwards. We will either be playing a gaurd there or a power forward. Spam Hate, playing Shagari and Woo isn't that far fetched offensively, but we would pay on defence. I know Shagari gets a lot of attention for blocking shots, but he is incredibly slow. The team as a unit is just much slower with Shagari in the game. Add a slow power forward into the mix (Woo) that would have trouble gaurding someone with 3 point range and I think we would just be a little bit too slow.

More than the obvious risk we'd have on defense, if we play Woo and Shag at the same time, who is logically the replacement when either gets winded (especially Shag). Is Carter gonna be ready to log big minutes? What happens if Woo and Shag simultaneously are in foul trouble?
I've confident in all the positions on the court. If I had a concern tho, it would probably be the 5. But, our top 10 or 11 players will all at least be sophomores. They know the system, especially our forwards (except for perhaps Sims). But, Sims is a good defender, which can get your far in the system, even if you don't get it at first.

I feel like the number of players that Tubby doesn't mind to play can really be an asset. Its all about matchups and that varies from game to game. He will have the tools necessary to go big, quick, small, and even power. Think about all of the combinations possible depending on what is needed to have an edge.

Tubby doesn't go with match ups!! - I don't know how many times the announcers would wonder out loud, "where is Kentucky's scoring going to come from with these new subs". It's just "you cold 4 or 5 guys off the bench go in at the same time"!! How many times did we kill our momentum last year with Tubby's wholesale "Hockey Shift Change" substitution?? This method of substitution is what has held back the development of guys like Perry, Crawford and Bradley in that they didn't play with many of the starters to get "effective playing time". And then even with the 4 or 5 guy substitution we didn't use our depth to up tempo and wear the other team out!! There is a difference in having all the combinations of players at a coach's disposal and being able to mix them effectively.

well, I know that Tubby played thirteen players against Utah and WooShag slowly wore down Bogut. Utah did dictate tempo, but our bench dominated and Tubby's Hockey style prevailed.
